There are several careers related to working with networking devices. A few examples include:
*Network Engineer -This is the traditional IT career path, applying
knowledge of networking protocols and technologies to design, deploy,
manage and maintain computer and telecommunications networks.
*Computer Support Specialist -These individuals provide technical
support for various products and services that use computers. Computer
support specialists help users troubleshoot problems, configure systems,
install updates and resolve issues. The number of computer support
specialists employed is expected to increase by 12 percent by 2022.
*Junior Systems Administrator -A junior systems administrator is
someone with some knowledge about operating systems, networking,
networking tools and the Internet. These individuals perform basic
maintenance work on PCs and servers.
*Network Security Administrator -Network administrators ensure the
safety and integrity of information transmitted over a network. They
protect computers and devices connected to the network from viruses,
spam, identity theft and attacks from hackers.
*Senior Systems Administrator -A senior systems administrator is
responsible for managing a team of network engineers and computer
support personnel.
*Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician -In addition to performing
various administrative duties, NOC Technicians monitor and maintain
communication networks. They may also specialize in network management,
communications, application monitoring and analysis, or network
performance optimization.
